This book struck me as very powerful because, in the story, it portrays the woman, Lucia Zenteno, as independent and unique. I found that it was a book about morals and how despite the people of the town calling Lucia mean names, she did not change herself, she only peacefully left. Also, this book tells a lot about forgiveness. After the people of the town were mean to Lucia Zenteno, they called her back when their river went dry.
